Another New Bronze! This is the 'Sad Man Bell with Goading Imp Clapper'.
New bronze! Meet the Two-Toed Roswellian Hepcat. A rare breed indeed. Legend has it he
was lured to Earth after picking up a broadcast of Artie Shaw's Man from Mars in 1939 and
finally arrived in 1947. The rest, as they say, is history :)
I'll be updating the site soon, I now have access to a bronze foundry and I couldn't be happier!!!
It's not a commercial foundry, I'm actually casting and finishing the pieces myself. VERY satisfying!
I'll post images soon. In the meantime, you can check my updates on Facebook if you'd like. Or
vist SandraLira.com to see all of my work - both creepy and cute!
And the Robot and Cthulhu Cookie Molds are now available in my Etsy shop :)

Wondering where I've been?
I'm waiting until I find a relatively inexpensive but very good foundry to cast small
bronzes for me. I have some nice sculpts that are just collecting dust at the moment.
In the meantime, I've been working on a different sort of business. If you're familiar
with my work, you'd probably never guess that these are my designs. Check it out:
But don't worry, I'll be making more of the stuff that only I think is cute soon (by that
I mean more of what you see here). And besides, I have chocolate robot and monster
molds planned for the future...
Really, REALLY old news:
I'm very happy to announce that I've been asked to be I-CON XXV's Artist
Guest of Honor this year. I-CON is held at Stony Brook University, NY,
the weekend of March 24-26, 2006. I plan on having several demos on sculpting,
perhaps some on sculpting food. Maybe I'll finally make my bagel and cream
cheese Loch Ness Monster and my Liverwurst (or SPAM) Troll!
If you're in New York in September, check out the Spectrum show
at the Society of Illustrators at 128 East 63rd St. It's an amazing show
and I'm very proud to have my work included in it. It's up until
October 1st, 2005.
Hours are Tuesday 10am-8pm, Wednesday -Friday 10am-5pm,
Saturday Noon-4pm. Closed Sunday.

TRIO is now on display at the National Sculpture Society's gallery

Check out the show if you're in the city!
I'm very pleased to announce that I received two awards for my work at Lunacon 2004.
The sculpture of "A rare species of Hornless Unicorn known for their bad temperament"
was awarded a Judges' Choice ribbon and the Millennium Angel won a Writer Guest of
Honor's Choice ribbon from Storm Constantine. Thank you!
New BLINDFOLDED SCULPTING photos from Lunacon 2004!
I'm VERY happy to announce that one of my sculptures was accepted in the
NATIONAL SCULPTURE SOCIETY'S Spring Exhibition, to be held in
the PARK AVENUE ATRIUM, 237 Park Avenue, New York, New York,
from March 22-July 30, 2004.
I've updated the page on the Bronze Horses with some photos of the prototypes and
moldmaking and will have some photos from the foundry of the casting process soon.
It was an honor and a really fun experience to be MISTRESS of CEREMONIES
at the CHESLEY AWARDS ceremony presented by ASFA. The ceremony was held at
Torcon3 the 61st World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon) on August 29th 2003.
I'm delighted that the Millennium Angel was included in the recently released book
The Chesley Awards for Science Fiction and Fantasy Art: A Retrospective.
The Millennium Angel was also featured in the introduction. I'm especially proud of
this as there's so much AMAZING artwork in this book! Be sure to have a look at it.
DARK REALMS MAGAZINE I was the featured artist in their spring 2003 issue.
They did a really great job on the article!
